Inventor Read-Only Mode: Change custom iProperties

I'm trying to figure out a way to properly change custom iProperties using the Inventor Read-Only mode program. The iProperties can be changed through Inventor Read-Only Mode, but the custom ones don't actually update in the titleblock.

Not sure how you got the read-only mode to change any iProperties.  I cannot change anything when I open up in read-only mode.  But I wouldn't expect to be able to since it is "Read Only".  Is there a reason that you need to change these properties and why you're not doing it through full Inventor?

To be clear-- I don't want to actually save changes to the iProperties, and I'm not able to do that. I'm just changing them in that instance and losing the changes when I close it.

Our systems are typically custom designed for customers, so all our drawing titleblocks contain the customer name, project number, and quantity of that item to be manufactured. Then over the years we'll sell spare parts. To release those for manufacture, our spare parts salesman will pull up the drawing, print it out, and scribble out the original job number and quantity to be manufactured, sometimes even the customer's company name has changed. There's no engineering being done at that stage, all they're trying to do is fill out a few fields.

Personally I think it's a terrible system for releasing things to be manufactured, but there's only so much I can push people to change.

If you company uses the Autodesk Vault (Workgroup or Pro), this is an easy process.  You can give the saleman the ability to open the file from the Vault but not save the file it back.  If you are not using the Autodesk Vault, then you can make the released files, the ones the saleman will access, read-only on the network.  He can open it, make his changes and print,  but not save it.  The best he can do is Save a Copy which I hope he is smart enough to avoid.

Hi Gregory,

All editing operations are blocked in Inventor Read-Only mode. There is no editing or saving.

Many thanks!

Well I guess I'll just shut my mouth then if a functionality I like isn't even supposed to be there on this computer.
