The log has no information.  What happens when you install?  Any messages?  Is it stuck somewhere?

Is this your copy of Inventor you are trying to install on your friends computer?

Update:  Although you were probably unaware of this, but when you post or share stuff here, please make sure it doesn't include yours or someone else personal information such as the serial #. This is a world wide user forum and that type of info should not be included in your posting or part of the log file that you attached from your friends machine.  So in the future remove or blur it out before posting. I will have the moderator remove it in order to protect your information.

I would recommend this: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-remove-and-reinstall-Microsoft-Visual-C-Runtime-Libraries.html and then try the installation again.

Dear Mark

I am having problems with Inventor 2016. I had it on my computer for more than 2 years, today I opened it and it say license expired. I logged on my account and tried to insert the one I had there but it kept on saying the license was not ok.

I then decided to unistall the program, reboot the system and tried to install it again. But if I do so it says "some products failed to install". And i have no clue what to do... i am really struggling and need the program!

Would you be able to help? I have attached the windows that pops up to tell me the installation failed and the log file.

thank you very much

Welcome to the Autodesk User's Community..

Is this based on a student license?  If so most likely it has expired since student license is only good for 3 years.  Meaning you will need to go back here https://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/featured, select Inventor, sign in with your Autodesk/Student account and request a new version.  You will not able to use the same version that you have now.  But let us know if this license is based on an student license..

Dear Mark

yes it is a student license and I installed it in january 2016 that´s why it was weird that it already expired in june 2018.

If I go to https://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/featured, and select Inventor 2016 (of course being signed in), it tells me a new serial number and when i try to install inventor it gives me the problems I posted before.

I don´t know how to solve this.. I cannot install anything

In the end your download is simply failing due to the method you're using..

There's a couple of ways to properly download and install your Autodesk product to your machine.  Please review this article and the solution it provides.

If the installation does fail using the preferred methods, please post your installation log file here so we can review it.

Posting info: Sometimes the installation log file contains the serial # that was assigned to you.  Open your log file using Windows Notepad and perform a search on "/SN".  Depending on the number of installation attempts, your serial # may be located throughout the log file.  If present, remove or "X" out your serial # prior to posting.

Good luck on your installation and report back on your progress.

Dear Mark

I have the same problems as before. Should I try installing a more recent version? I tried with the Preferred method.

Your log is still showing you're using the web installer..  If you actually did the preferred method your log would show something different.

But that´s how AVA told me to install. It doesn´t appear a "scroll" section on the right of AVA so if I follow what she says I do the web installation.. there is NO other way. Did i do somehting wrong? I mean the window is clearly different then the one in the article you sent me.

Sorry, AVA's interface is always changing...  Meaning that article would have to change every day..  Smiley LOL

Just type download

Type Inventor 2016

Select I have an existing license and follow the prompts

At the end select browser download and download each part..

Hi! The install log indicates it is .Net 3.5 install related. Inventor 2016 required .Net 3.5. Without it, the program would not be install correctly or run correctly. Please install .Net 3.5 on your machine before restarting 2016 install.

Many thanks!
