I am trying to save to .step format but the place to save is unable to be clicked. This is the 2019 pro inventor.

Welcome to the Autodesk User's Community..
I do not believe you can export an Inventor presentation file to step or other CAD neutral files.

Hi! Mark is correct. In IPN environment, there is no export support unfortunately.
