Pack and Go is an archival process and is not meant to do any editing of properties of the files being process.  The only purpose of Pack and Go is to allow the operator to capture all related files of an assembly, along with related data such as templates, styles if desired, and place them in either one folder location or to maintain folder hierarchy.  Later versions of Pack and Go can also create a zip file of all the files if desired.

Since Pack and Go is an archival process, it will sever the link of the files to the original assembly and attach it to the assembly in the Pack and Go process.  It does this so whoever receives the Pack and Go will not have resolve file issues.

Are you using Projects (*.ipj)

Was the correct Project active (the P&G project when opening the P&G version).

Hi! I think you are looking for Copy Design ability. You can do it in two ways. Start up Inventor without opening any file. Go to Tools -> iLogic Design Copy. Or you use a standalone tool called Design Assistant (go to All Programs -> Autodesk -> Autodesk Inventor xxxx -> Design Assistant).

Many thanks!

Pay attention to the Project File (.ipj) and the directories that you use to access the data in the Pack-n-Go.

You should not save the Pack-n-Go in a directory that your day-to-day project file can resolve.

When you create a Pack-n-Go, Inventor creates a new project file in the Pack-n-Go directory.  If you want to open a file from the Pack-n-Go, change your active project file to the .ipj file in the that directory.  By using that .ipj file, you are telling Inventor to look for files in the Pack-n-Go directory, not your normal working location.

I normally work in c:\workspace.  If I save out a Pack-n-Go, I put it in c:\PacknGo\AssemblyName.  My workspace.ipj does not know about c:\PacknGo so, Inventor can't pull files from there.

In the same manner, AssemblyName.ipj does not know about c:\workspace, so Inventor can't pull files from my normal working directory.

You can use Design Assistant to re-name the files, just remember to set Design assistant to point at the pack and go project file first!
