Inventor noticeably slow?

Hi all, 

I've recently updated to the new 2027 version of Inventor. I've noticed a significant slowdown in the app's performance since the 2026 & 2025 versions. The drawing space is laggy when modelling. Is there a new setting in the background I can turn off that fixes this? I've noticed the same problem in ACAD. Anytime you are in the sketch space, the software is incredibly laggy.

Disable "Autoproject edges for sketch creation and edit" and optimize your graphic settings to immediately fix the lag you are experiencing in the sketch and drawing spaces of Inventor 2027. Because this issue is crossing over into AutoCAD (ACAD), it is highly tied to how the new releases handle background automated constraints, selection highlighting, and DirectX hardware acceleration.

Hi Chris,

I suspect it could be graphics related. Try the following and see if it helps.

Make sure all the critical Windows updates, the latest graphics driver, and all the critical PC vendor updates (including BIOS updates) are installed. Use Windows Disk Cleanup to remove cached files.

Go to Windows Display settings and select the recommended resolution and scale values. Right-click on Inventor desktop icon -> Properties -> Compatibility -> check "Run as Admin."

Install Inventor 2027.0.1 update.

If nothing helps, go to Inventor -> Tools -> App Options -> Display -> uncheck "Enable Smooth Sketch Lines." Go to Hardware -> check Software graphics.

How much system RAM and graphics RAM does your machine have?

Are you still experiencing the same slowness in your side? Please have a try with below: 

1. From Application Options->Hardware, check whether you are on DirectX12 graphics driver, if yes, please switch to DirectX11. 
2. If the same problem still exists, please use Performance Feedback Recorder to record a performance problem report, so it can help us to profile and investigate the problem further. Inventor 2027 Help | To Use the Performance Feedback Recorder | Autodesk
