Inventor icons

Many times there are icons that appear in the browser that I just can't figure out. Is there anywhere where I can find a list of all of the icons and what they mean? I recently had a bent arrow on a drawing sheet and can not find out what it means.
Seems to me that there should be a diagram somewhere that list the names or descriptions of all of the icons that do not appear with tooltips.

The bent arrow was on a view. It means that the view is a child of
another view on a different sheet. You can right mouse click on these
views and there is a *goto *command to take you to the parent view, like
a windows shortcut. Which the arrow is trying to look like. There is
some content in help on icons, but it is not consolidated. This is a
good suggestion.

IV must be the only program I have installed (or know of) that I can't turn to a reference of icon illustrations which clearly sets out their meaning and/or use. This is usually in a tabular reference form. Frequently a card is supplied with the manual. (oops! manual? there I go again).

Although the online reference does illustrate each topic with the associated icons, I haven't found the reverse (i.e. a list of icons with their meaning) while learning IV.

'Getting Started' does have a list of commonly used hot keys and some icons are illustrated beside their commands. But faced with an unfamiliar icon, or colour change, I can find no way of looking it up.

I never liked ICONS since Auto Cad started that. If I remember correctly every command was in a text format.
I wish everything was still in PLAIN ENGISH instead of interpertations and colors. What's that supposed to be??? A line?
I suppose people can't read any more. Just another part of the dumming down of America. I'm one of those brain washed picture/ icon/ interpet guy.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, may I propose that an icon is worth
at least a dozen words? I don't think it has to do with dumbing down, but
with saving space in the graphic user interface of a complex application.
Icons are visual shortcuts that make scanning for something much more
efficient. Can you imagine what the browser of an Inventor part would look
like if the feature types were all written out instead of icons?

Why not turn off the expert option, then you have a short description of each icon?

He's referring to the icons in the model tree or browser, not the toolbar buttons. Those are easy. Just point to 'em and get a tooltip telling you what they do.

This is meant as a response to Kevin Schneider's post above:

No offense, but this is profoundly less than helpful. You answered one specific example when the questioner clearly was asking about "many" icons. Do we need to come here and start a new thread every time we don't know what one of these silly icons means? I have looked high and low and have found NO simple straight forward graphic chart showing ALL of the different Inventor icons with their meaning or definition listed. I can not even fathom why this is so difficult to produce. Come on already!

I don't ever recall seeing one for Drawing icons.

I might have something in one of the old textbooks that I taught from.
