Hi has anyone else experienced this issue before?

Inventor 2016 installed on Windows 10, trying to activate a custom content center library Inventor just hangs.

Is there a workaround?

Thanks

What do you mean activate a custom content center?  Can you explain what you're doing?  Are you trying to place from CC?  Publish to it?  Add this library to the project file?

Hi Mark,

Yes sorry I was in a hurry this morning when I typed that.

Its mainly when a filter is set with that custom CC library. So when activating the CC filter, Inventor just hangs and we have to force shut it down. It happens on many of our customer's PC's but its random and not on all the Win 10 installations out there.

I am sure we are not the only people experiencing this so was wondering if anyone has a fix or workaround for this issue.

The sytems are on the latest updates from Adesk.

So are you setting the CC filter here or its already been set from here?  Are you selecting the Add/Edit Filter option?

So I assume without this filter everything works fine?

Yes we add our own filter. When activating thsat filter Inventor just hangs. Only on some Windows 10 PC's. We have had about six of our customers complain about that.

I just created my own filter and no hang on the content center..  I'm wondering if you have a dialog off the screen but at the same time it would be odd if all 6 users were faced with this.

If you are not using that filter does content center work ok/no problem?   Are you using Vaullt 2015 R2?  And if you do, does Vault manage your Content Center?

Yes its random. So only sometimes, when activating this filter, does Inventor hang.

Everyone is using desktop contant with Inventor 2016.

Sorry I didn't mean to except your response as a solution..   Web page wasn't fully loaded when I clicked.  Smiley Mad

Yes that is odd.  I haven't seen that before..  For a test I would run the Inventor Reset utility (link is in my signature) on one of the machines and see if that resolves the issue.

Just some more feedback. This is actually happening with Inventor 2017 and Windows 10 as well.

Something in Windows 10 has a compatibility issue with Inventor 2016/7.

Thanks

Hello Raider,

Have you tried this article?: Inventor Content Center filters when switched goes to non responding state

I hope this article will be useful to you.

Hi,

Yes we are aware of that article. It would appear that it works for a while and then reverts back to being an issue again after a day or so. We are doing more testing though.

Cheers

Good day Mark

I am also having this issue with Inventor 2016/7 on Windows 10, it is more severe than when changing filters, CC crashes when publishing parts, editing family tables / properties etc.  I currently have a case [CaseNo:11840865] open with Autodesk.  Its been through Melvin Valverde, Jon Dean and is currently being handled by Dennis Ossadnik, who is waiting for some feedback from me.

I can however confirm that the Inventor Reset Utility did not fix this issue.  I have also tried re-creating the project and working with the new project file, as suggested by Melvin.  This helped temporarily but the issue came back.

I will be doing some testing this week as suggested by Dennis and giving this feedback to him.

Good day Michael

My issue seems to have gone away after windows ran the updates below.

Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB3114750) 64-Bit Edition

Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2553347) 64-Bit Edition

Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2565063)

Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2538242)

A customer had this same issue today and they have installed these updates since.  I'm waiting to hear back from them if this solved the issue.

One of my customers are getting this issue on Windows 10, Inventor 2016 SP2 and just checked that I am too.

Is there a hotfix in the pipeline, or can I track down the windows updates somehow and see if they've been installed. I just had a look and couldn't find the ones listed?

Hi

After a week or so this issue came back (even after the updates).  I still have a case open with Autodesk but unfortunately I couldn't replicate the issue when we had a remote support session going.

It seems it was coincidence that I didn't get the error for a while after those updates.

Hi Carl

i can reproduce the hang every time when i hit publish. Publish successful and then CC hangs

Always when i do a change to my custom library eg publish new part, change table, add rows, delete rows and hit publish then the CC editor seems to hang.

But the changes were made but i always have to restart Inventor.
