Inventor Desktop Content centre

Hi,

We have recently had Inventor 2018 installed on our new computers. During the install process the software installer has not checked the box to install the content centre. We have been waiting several months for them to reinstall it correctly but are still waiting. I was just wondering, is it possible to download the ISO desktop content centre idcl file from somewhere and just drop it into the content centre folder? Thanks.

Hello @Anonymous

Thanks for your post.

Do you have the installation files you downloaded before you installed Inventor (Please check in the default C:\Autodesk folder)?

You can always reinstall or install afterward the Desktop Content Center libraries, please have a look at the following article:

How to install Inventor Desktop Content Center Libraries

Please let us know if it helps.

Thanks

Most of the .idcl file are too large to attach here..   Also who do you mean..  Waiting for months for them to install?  If this is impacting your job and its been several months..  Sounds like management needs to be involved.

In the end there's no place to direct download desktop content center.

Do you have admin rights to your PC?

If so you can go to your control panel, find inventor and to a change/repair to the software and install the CC that way.

Or, see the attached link.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Our software is installed and handled by a separate company so we don't have access to installation media. The desktop content centre folder is empty so I believe it was not selected on the install. I realise the correct way would to be to reinstall the software with the correct options but as I cant, I was just questioning, Is there another way? Sounds not.

Hi @Mark.Lancaster, thanks for the direct answer. I wont comment on the responsiveness of our IT department even when encouraged by management Smiley Wink

@Cadmanto no admin rights either, that kinda why I was looking specifically for the file to download and drop into the folder for content centre. Sounds like its not feasible. Thanks.

Thanks @Mark.Lancaster I'm struggling to download the file at work, so will give it a try from home. Hopefully it should keep me going, I'll let you know how I get on. Much appreciated!
