Hello all.
I have a question for you. The small engineering firm that I recently employed me does not yet have Vault set up, and I have stressed the importance of implementing it ... but it seems to be gaining traction very slowly... I know I can find a solution to my particular issue with Vault, as I have set up the schemes/workflows/etc. for previous employers utilizing Vault. Since that isn't the case here, I have found myself in a particular situation where I cannot answer what should be a relatively easy problem - I would think.
This firm operates on an alphanumeric approach to revisions. "Rev 0" here is "00", following that is "0A" until it runs its course 25 iterations later to "0Z" and will then become "1A" and continue.
As far as I can tell, Inventor only allows for either: a) manual input for rev control/advancement in iProperties and manual edits to the Rev Table as they occur, b) the choice to use either alpha or numeric for Rev definition if relying on the revision table to populate the subsequent intervals as they happen.
Some of the designers here are relatively green to the field of designing in general and haven't worked in manufacturing/assembly before and have made some slip ups - we've all been there at some point, I get it, but in order to deter and reduce human-error, I reckon the best way is to remove that from the equation by driving revision updates if at all possible. Is it possible to make Inventor recognize a custom scheme or approach to revision naming/progression without the use of Vault?
I appreciate any insight any one can provide.
Thank you in advance for your time.
