Inventor Cloud Security

Hi Everyone,

I have a question about the security of my proprietary information on Autodesk Inventor and the cloud.  If I do not use any cloud services,... isn't a copy of my design work saved on the cloud automatically?  I'm very concerned about my intellectual property being hacked or stolen.  Any information on how to keep my design work completed in inventor would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance.

Hi @fpaul28 ,

Any files you make in Inventor are stored locally either on your computer or a network location.

The only way Inventor files make it the cloud is if you upload them there.

Fusion 360 is another CAD product by Autodesk that does save it's file to cloud automatically - security on that front is achieved with a good password, 2 factor authetication on your autodesk account and managing who has access to your files.

Hi Frank,

Any file you created with Inventor is your own property. Inventor as a CAD tool, does not dictate where you store the files. You can store them locally, or on a network drive or managed by PDM system like Vault, or store in the cloud. It is all up to you. This is no different than Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint).

Many thanks!
