Inventor can't open two versions of the same file

Since upgrading to Inventor 2024, we frequently get error messages like these:

Part XYZ.ipt [or Assembly ABC.iam] v23 is opened in Inventor and loaded into cache.  The file located at [file path]\Part XYZ.ipt is a different file version.  Inventor can't open two versions of the same file (where path and file name are the same) in the same session.  Save your work, and then close and reopen the documents using the file to clear the cache.

Can anyone help identify the reason for these messages?  Currently we are using Inventor 2024.1.1 along with Vault Basic 2024.1 Update, and our workflow is the same as it was prior to the upgrade.

It is a unique problem, and I don't think anyone was able to see why it's happening to some people.

Hi! We do have an issue related to this behavior. It has been reported as INVGEN-72927. We are working on a fix. In the meantime, try using Refresh command to see if it helps (File -> Manage -> Refresh).

Many thanks!

Thank you @johnsonshiue

In regards to INVGEN-72927, if any other users are reading this thread & would like to report having the same difficulty, what's the best way to do so?

Hi! Please feel free to contact Autodesk Product Support and escalate the issue (INVGEN-72927). In this particular case, I think we will have to wait for the fix.

Many thanks!

Thanks for adding to the discussion @DperronU8V4S

Unfortunately we haven't identified a consistent trigger.  For us the the behavior seems to be more random.

Hi! The coming updates (2024, 2023, and 2022) should address the issue. Please install it when it becomes available. And, report back the findings.

Many thanks!

I see this is addressed in the 2024.2 Update.  From the release notes:

Resolved an issue causing an incorrect message dialog about a file loaded into cache being different than the file on disk to display. INVGEN-72927

I just installed it.  I will try to report back with results.
