Inventor not working properly

Good evening/moring/noon,

As of lately when i started up Inventor 2023 on my working computer on windows 11, when i went to File --> new, i instantly got an all-freeze and could not do anything and the application wont react or even close. the only way to close the program was with the help of taskmanager to close it, but when i started it back up the same kept happening again and again. It took our IT-manager (who is not familliar with inventor sadly) quite some time to figure out that the only way you could avoid this was via:  File --> Options --> file --> Default templates --> select the same template your using as before and only then your Inventor can properly select new files.

But before i thought this was an local issue on my working computer, but today i updated my personal computer from windows 10 to 11 (because in the early days of windows 11 Inventor did not even work) and now the same problem occurs on this PC. While its not the same PC and also its not the same account.

Does anyone have a quick permanent solution to this problem?

Apologies for the bad english, im learing every day.

If you have been recently connected to external monitors, a common issue is a window off-screen needing a response, which appears to be a frozen application.

To retrieve a window from off-screen, do the following:
  • Alt+Space
  • "M" for Move
  • any arrow key to attach the window to the cursor
  • drag your cursor to where you want the window, and click to place it.

Known bug. Install your updates.

This should be the first thing your 'IT' department did.

Hi! Please install all critical Windows updates and the latest graphics driver. Then install 2023.3.1 update.

Many thanks!

hello all,

i did all the things you guys asked for, windows is up to the latest patch, my graphics driver is and inventor should now also be on the latest version. Also i checked with the instructions but i dont have any offscreen 'screens'.

yet the problem still stays the same and inventor still doesnt respond sadly unless i take the loophole.

attached is the screen i get stuck on.

Hope you all can help and thanks already.

Hi! Many thanks for sharing the screenshot! It looks like Inventor has trouble accessing the template folder. Please go to Project settings -> Folder Options -> Templates -> make sure the path is accessible. Or, try setting the folder path to another one that you have access to.

Thanks again!
