Inventor 8 crashes when trying to creat a file

I have Inventor 8. Running Windows 8.1

i3-2370m cpu 2.40GHz

64 bit

I am sure this is a graphics card/Driver issue.

The graphics card id a Intel (R) HD Graphics 3000

Is there a driver that will make this compatible or do I have to change out the graphics card? I have looked on the forum and can not find a driver update/download that will work with my graphics card.

Any ideas?

... or 2008 (version 12, eleven years old) , or version 8 (fourteen years old)?

No it is 8. It is older software, I think 2003.

I don't think that IV8 is capable of running on Windows 8. Either Windows XP or possibly Windows 7 with all updates installed.

I suspect that even the hardware doesn't meet the requirement back then.

Possible issues with running a old version like that on a 64Bit OS as well.

Is there a reason why you need a 15 yr old product?

I'm surprised it even install.

You might need Windows 8 Pro and run Inventor inside 32bits virtual machine.

I don't even know if anyone here have a copy to test.

, 14 years old. I know it is old but for what I use it for it works perfect
and it was very affordable. I had the same software I have used for years
but I had a hard drive crash on my other computer and I can't find the old
discs. That being said I have an older laptop and I bought this version at
a good price. I was just hoping I could use it on this laptop but it isn't
looking too good.

You got it activated from Autodesk (as a perpetual license)?  Using a normal provided Autodesk serial #?

Are you located in the US?

The software even being old works for what I do. The price was right so this is what I have. The computer is out of date too. I may just have to upgrade to a newer laptop.

Did you just purchase the software media or did you purchase software/serial #?

I have the paperwork from Autodesk stating the old serial number, the new serial number and the authorization code.

Autodesk didn't give you the paperwork, the seller gave it to you, correct?  So it sounds like you purchased the media and license info from another person, correct?

Sorry if my many questions come across the wrong way but did you realize in the US you can't re-sell your Autodesk license or purchase someone else's Autodesk product/license?   Just giving you the heads up because you and the seller could be fined for  this transaction.   The only way this can be done if the seller and you fill out a transfer of ownership and it gets approved by Autodesk.   At this point (and my 2 cents)..  I wouldn't want to run the risk of being fined (which could mean the fine is higher than what you purchased this at).

Thank you not taken the wrong way at all. I guess I need to figure out what to do now.
