I'm trying to share a model with a coworker. I use Inventor 2024, he uses Inventor 2023, he says he can't open my model. I'm assuming because I'm using a newer version. Is there a way to dumb down/export/save my model so that it can be opened in 23? Thanks.

@EagleBee93

You can export the model as a .stp, but as you said, it will be a "dumb" solid with no features or history.  If that is all your colleague needs, that may be an easy fix.  Note also, that any changes you make on your model will not be reflected in the step model.

Unfortunately, he needs a working model and to be able to constrain to it, etc. Is there a way to do that so any changes I make are updated for him to see?

He can open your model since it is only one version difference. However, the features will not be there, as Chris pointed out above.
You should have access to install 2023 too, and if you are working back and forth as a team, I would strongly recommend you stick to the same version. Anyways, you can also use the Shared views (File > Share > Share view) to quickly show your progress/work if your coworker does not need to modify it.

P.S.: You don't have much of a choice here. A somewhat bad workaround would be using Feature Recog on the files you send him to retrieve some functionality he could work with, but that's unsustainable in the long run:

A STEP import can be constrained.

Do that all the time with other CAD import.

Just can't edit features.

2023 will open 2024 with the "2024 interpolation" installed.

It'll work like STEP without export to STEP.

Best solution is get coworkers to upgrade to 2024.

Hi! 2023.3 and later updates enable Inventor 2023 to reference (not  open) Inventor 2024 ipt or iam file.

Many thanks!
