Inventor 2022 Nesting Best Size Not Working

I have noticed when nesting that the "Best Size" and "Best Mix" functions do not provide the desired output. The only means of getting what you want is through the "As Listed" which is a real pain (and doesn't always work). I have noticed that this has been a reported issue since the middle of last year. Any updates on when this will be resolved?

Thanks!

@matthew.hansche ,

The "Best Size" and "Best Mix" options choose the most cost-efficient size and mix of sheet stock respectively. If all sheet sizes are set to the same cost value (1), it always picks the largest sheet as that is the most cost-efficient option out of all. If you set the cost values proportional to the sheet area, it will produce the results you are looking for. Hope that helps.

Ravi, thank you for your response. That does not quite make sense to me.

I have a set quantity of plate sheets available (I already know what was purchased) which I define in the packaging properties. Correct me if I am wrong, but using these functions Inventor should nest on what is available for efficiency without regard for the list order. The problem is that it does not seem to work that way. Inventor will sometimes nest a combination of smaller parts on a large plate and use 85% of the plate when there is a single, larger part for which the plate was specifically purchased that will use 95% of the plate. Then it will give me an error that there is not a large enough plate to nest that large part. From what I understand, using these settings Inventor should pick the part (or combination thereof) which optimizes plate efficiency so why is it not picking the larger piece?
