Inventor 2022 - Can't Select Sketch Features With Cursor On Part

Hey everyone,

I just downloaded Inventor 2022 yesterday. I just created a sketch on a face, and I have autoproject turned on, so everything on the face is projected into the sketch. Most of the projected features I don't need, so I usually box select and either delete or make them construction lines. As I started to do a box select (click, drag diagonally, release) the move glyph kept popping up next to the cursor (four little arrows - up, down, left, right) and box select would not work. I tried escape, etc. thinking I had inadvertently started a command, but it did not change anything. "Select sketch features" is selected in the selection type drop-down at the top of the screen. I figured out that if I started my box selection off of the part, in open space, it would work, but if my first click was on the part, it exhibits the move functionality. Incidentally, no matter where the move click happens, it highlights and tries to move a workplane.

I can workaround for now, but does anyone have any ideas about this?

Thanks,

Roy Conrad

Actually, I may not be able to workaround. Every dimension I place seems to go to this workplane. I selected the construction line on the left, the left side of the box, clicked to place the dimension, and this angular dimension comes up to the workplane. This is very strange.

Upon further experimentation, if when placing a dimension, I move my mouse far away from the part to make the final click, it will allow me to place the dimension. If I slowly move the cursor back towards the part, there is a point where it will snap to the plane, even though it's nowhere near it.

Hi Roy,

The behavior does not sound right. But, I cannot seem to reproduce it. Does it happen to this particular assembly? Or you can reproduce it easily? Please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed.

Many thanks!

Hello Johnson,

Thanks for your response. The issue was very repeatable in that assembly, but I had to make some progress on that part yesterday so I ended up deleting the plane that kept being selected and that got rid of the problem. Everything is working as it should now.

Thanks,
