I'm collecting several drawing sheets from various idw- files to common multi sheet idw file for new project using copy-paste method. It works allmost OK. The thing is, that all view labels changes! How can I lock those names from changing? The copied drawing is not the same as the source was! There should be an option where to chooce limitting the auto view labelling system to sheet-specific!

I don't know, but I would assume this is done so you don't have conflicting letters. Is it choosing the next available letter in the sequence?

You can manually change these letters by editing the view, but that's extra work of course.

Yes, that is happening! But if you someday print that copied sheet, the result is not like the original, source drawing was! When you make a copy of a sheet, Inventor should copy it as it is, without any, even minimal changes! Imagine when you refer some drawing view for exable in written notice or advice, all that information is gone too!

I don’t believe there is any way to lock the linked parameters of view labels/linked iproperties from changing manually any how.  They are designed to work with in the boundaries of the sheet collection you are working in and if  removed from that context will attempt to update to the new environment.

You could change any linked labels/linked iproperties before you copy to be a static text value. A possibility is to do this through ilogic also and integrate into a copy rule. Have you sample pictures of what values are changing?

You're putting a bunch of drawings in the same .idw file. It's probably a problem for someone else if they drop in "page 3" and the view names are the same as "page 1" - is ABC becoming DEF no matter which page you're on, or do you get GHI if the other sheet have already gotten up to F regardless of what the copied sheet started as?

We need to check the "Ideas" forum.

There are two ways to go here:

copy/paste should not index/increment the view names

and

A way to link text to view names, so that if the view name changes the text would also change. (It might be easier for Autodesk to make the view name a property you could put in leader text, but how much help would that be if you're already pointing at the view?)

I wonder why this issue is so difficult, there is allready possibility to override the automatic labelling , however. I think it would be quite easy, when making a copy, to read those source labels and transfer them as they are into target file as overrided values? This could be controlled, for example, by a check box.
