Inventor 2020 will not allow me to change custome content centre parameters

We are using Inventor 2020 without the use of the vault, that will be coming in time as the company decided on its data management direction. 

I have used inventor since 2013 and setup Vault and Inventor several times but this is stumping me. I have created custom parts in the content centre and now want to modify the parameters but each time i go into the 'Family Table...' and request the change, Inventor starts to open the parameters table but then the process stops and does nothing. When you try to do anything the computer just pings every time you touch Inventor and you then have to turn off the application through the task manager.

We are using windows 7 and will son be going to windows 10 but we are heavily locked down so can't do any updates without IT certifying everything. I am anAutodesk Admin but just a standard user on the company network.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds as if you have a dialog out of sight that is expecting input (hence the pings).  If it is out of sight off the screen, then in should respond to keystrokes Alt-Spacebar, m, arrow keys, which invokes the dialog Move command and manually positions it by arrow key (you can use the mouse, too).  If it is simply out of sight behind the main Inventor window, you may be able to retrieve it by minimizing the Inventor window, then restoring it.

Hello and thanks for the informationa and suggestion, unfortunately there is nothing happening in the background and there are no other screen appears anywhere. The only way to do anythng at all is to open the task manager and end the inventor task

In my experience, when I get "pings every time you touch Inventor", that almost always means that some component of Inventor (add-in, for instance) is waiting for input and not visible.  What happens if you hit Esc or Enter?  Does that free up Inventor, or does it stay stuck?

It stays stuck and pings, never had this issue ever because like you guys have suggested but usually something somewhere it open like you say but on this occasion nothing i do will allow it to do anything except task manager and then ending task

Unfortunately i can't for two reasons, 1 the business i am is strictly prohibit doing that and secondly the family area starts to open and then the issue vanishes so there is nothing to show
