Inventor 2020 installation window disappears and installation fails

Hello, 

so I have a problem. Today I wanted to install inventor 2020 (before I used 2019 version). 

So I uninstalled all autodesk files via uninstall programs in windows 10 and I also deleted all Autodesk folders.

I download the installer, click custom installation and as inventor starts to install, the installation window suddenly disappears and all is gone - no crash report, it just all disappears leaving me with uninstalled software. 

I tried uninstalling all C++ Microsoft visuals, shutting down firewall and antivirus but it did not help. I am attaching Inventor 2020 install log file so you guys can have a look at it to see where the problem is. If you know where the problem is just let me know. I will be extremely grateful. Thanks

I am wondering which method you used to download the application from your Autodesk Account.  If you used the Browser download method, you need to download three separate installation files.  From you installation log, it seems you are missing a lot of components leading me to think you did not download the complete application before attempting installation.

I used official site from autodesk. It was the student version although

I downloaded the installer directly from this site via chrome

Also what downloaded was only 1 file - the installer

Again, I will ask, which method did you use.  If you used the Install Method, try to use the Browser Download method remembering that there are three download files that should be expanded before installation.  Also, Autodesk recommends the temporary disabling of Windows User Access Control during installation.  You will find this setting under your user account in the control panel of Windows.  It does not matter if it is a Student version, they all work the same.

Probably student version has a different download system since I cant choose from the options you showed me. I attach prinscreen. Maybe I am just doing something the wrong way however this method has worked for me up till now. I always downloaded just this one file via the button. The only different thing was that I choose a different inventor version. 

EDIT Wait a bit if I click on the arrow next to download button I can see the 3 different methods that you mentioned. However before I only pressed the button so I assume it was the first option which I think is default. The option is INSTALL NOW

What I showed you was from my Autodesk Account, not from the Student Software site.  An the options I showed you were from a student version of Inventor Pro.  Give my method a try, from your Autodesk Account page.

Use the Browser Download method and get these three files - this is just like having a DVD Install disk.

Temporarily disable UAC.

Reboot your computer.

Create a Windows Restore Point.

Temporarily disable antivirus/firewall.

Double click on 001 of 003 and follow the on-screen instructions to install Inventor Professional.

All should go well.

Re-enable UAC and antivirus/firewall.

Reboot the computer.

Create a new Windows Restore Point.

Tip:  You have 30 days to register your student license.  I usually wait and run in Trial mode for at least a couple of weeks before registering the license.  That way you know all is well before you burn one of your two licenses.

My students have followed these steps for years without issues.

So first of all I apologize if I didnt understand you properly and did it the wrong way - I am not that good with english so I am sorry but you must be patient with me 😕 

I went to the student download page and I selected browser download as you told me. I also disabled User Account Control, deleted all C++ stuff and all the autodesk folders, also disabled firewall, antivirus etc

What actually happened is that only one 2 gb file started downloading (i attach screenshot - there will be more of them). There were no 3 files downloading but only one. After download finished I noticed that in the name of the file is written 01-03 - so maybe that means its all 3 parts you mentioned earlier merged into 1 file? Also I attach screenshot. 

The most interesting part is when I tried to run the installer. It asked me to select destination where it would extract the files. HOWEVER when I just clicked OK with default path C:\Autocad\ an error message popped up saying there were some installation parts missing just as you suggested. I also include screenshots of this. So the problem is probably that I cannot download all 3 parts.

Also thanks for all of your however I dont know how to download all 3 files because it just downloads 1 file as it is and it doesnt even let me choose the files to download.

No, you should have stopped there and asked questions before continuing. I posted image of the 3 files that you need. When you skip steps, you run the risk of making the entire process more difficult.

I am sorry if I did upset you by skipping steps as I said earlier I thought it was 3 files merged into a 1 and I thought I would give it a shot. This way by experimenting I thought it would save time to me and even to you because I suppose you all are busy men and I do not want to needlessly annoy you with my problems. Also I did create a restore point as you have suggested, so if things went south I would have just restored the system.

However I am happy to announce that my problem is solved - what helped was downloading all 3 files from the forum post which was shared here earlier. Then I just ran the 001 file and things worked out perfectly - only thing that did not work was the installation of the Autodesk Desktop App which I never liked in particular so I do not mind about not having that one. Also I used the little trick you suggested by going for a free trial first. If everything works in 10 days I will switch to my license.

With my problem solved I would like to thank all 3 of you for quick help and useful advices. Have a great day and thanks! This was my first experience on this forum and I must say it is a very good one!
