Well this annoying little(?) problem just started last night in which I can open a file just fine; but when I need to open a second file Inventor 2020 hangs and I have to kill it. Restarting Inventor, rebooting, and repair Inventor have had no effect at fixing this problem.
I have all the latest patches, etc for Windows and Autodesk software.
Here is a screen shot.

Hi! There could be a Windows related issue. Try this. Go to Windows security center and disable Real-time protection for a moment. Close Inventor and start it again. Is it still slow? If yes, this is a known issue with Windows Anti-Virus. We are actively working with Microsoft to resolve the issue.
Many thanks!

Hi:
Yes, I agree that it's a Windows problem in that when I force Inventor 2020 to close it always sends a problem report to Microsoft.
Well, things have gone from bad to worse in that now I can't open any files.
I removed the Factory Layout Utilities as the expected project utilizing them didn't materialize. I also tried removing the Nesting Utility as I saw something on this forum that it could be part of the hanging problem. I can't remove the Nesting Utility using the Autodesk Uninstall Tool or the Windows Control Panel.

Hi! Have you tried cleaning up %temp% (File Explorer -> %temp%)? After that, try disabling all Inventor Add-Ins (Inventor -> Tools -> Add-Ins).
Does it work now?
Many thanks!

OK, I cleared out the %TEMP% folder, disabled and re-enabled all Inventor add-ins and turned off Windows Defender 'Real Time Protection' and Inventor behaved normally and faster; but that was short lived and it went back to the same problem.

I know it's the holiday season, which means the workplace tends to be chaotic; but is Autodesk and Microsoft any closer to solving this problem?
Yesterday I was able to use Inventor just fine as if nothing is wrong. Today it's back to the same problem regardless of Windows Defender settings.
I 'repaired' Inventor successfully according to the installation routine; but the problem still exists. I'm just trying to avoid the hassle of reinstalling Inventor since I don't feel confident that will solve the problem.
This is my current version of Windows 10 and Inventor 2020.

Hi! The behavior you described does seem similar to the known file management issue related to Windows Defender (INVGEN-35862). So far we don't have a solution yet unfortunately.
Many thanks!

Thanks for getting back to me. Hopefully the bug will be squashed in 2020.

So, one of my engineers had the "same" issue. He couldn't open even one file. Worked perfectly yesterday. Today, he came in, turned on his machine and now it just hangs after opening a file. I went in and disabled all the "non AutoDESK" add-ins...I determined that it was the iPropWiz Add-in that was causing the hanging issue. Now...that said, there may be another underlying issue there, but when that add-in is disabled, the machine appears to run fine.
This issue occurred this morning on his machine when it was iPropWiz 6.2.0.117 and even after the update to 6.2.0.118.
To add to the confusion, we have 10 other machines running the same version of Windows, Inventor, and iPropWiz, and no one is having this issue.

So what does iPropWiz do? It sounds like it's related to iProperties.
Lately, Inventor has been behaving just fine. Maybe getting rid of the clunky nesting utility took care of it; but I don't know for certain. Maybe a Windows update squashed the bug for now, or maybe running my registry cleaner got rid of some bogus entry. Your guess is as good as mine.
Thanks!
