Inventor 2019 Crashes in sketch - Net Framework ASP.NET. 4.7 - is it needed?

I am running 2019.1.2.

I have been having an issue with a sketch that freezes at what I think are random times.

It will be the only file that is open.

Quick question - another post mentioned to check if Net Framework 4.7 is running.

Here's what my machine shows:

2019 net framework.jpg

Is this correct? If so, then I'll try something else to get these crashes to stop, like uninstalling Factory Utilities, as was mentioned in another post.

Thanks

Have you tried a repair on the installation?
I don't know exactly what has to be running on .NET 4.7, but that may fix it.

I don't think that is the solution to your problem, but it is recommended to install .NET as it is used by Inventor, but whatever Updates and extra .NET stuff needed by inventor should've installed at the same time as Inventor.  Give it a shot, if it doesn't solve your problem, then you can go back in that window and un-check the .NET.

EDIT: Have you looked at Windows Update to see if something comes up after installing Inventor?

Hello John,

I have not yet tried that.

I've set the Factory utilities to not load automatically, I'll try this step and see how it goes.

If I get another crash, then I'll do your suggestion.

Thanks for the help.

For the .NET comment:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticle...

.NET Framework .NET Framework Version 4.7 or later. Windows Updates enabled for installation.

So it's that or later.

Is it a specific file?  Can you share it?

Try getting a new IPT template and testing it.

Also have you tried the Inventor Reset Utility?

Hey Philip, I don't think there has been a windows update installed since we've installed 2019 (it was just last week before we finally got around to it).

These aren't really crashes that happens, Inventor just freezes with the foggy white screen and "not responding" indication.

I let it sit for 30 minutes yesterday while I did some other stuff, before finally ctrl-alt-del'ing it.

Hello Michael

I've attached the file. The first time it froze was when I tried to pattern the geometry circled in red. I haven't re-tried it to see if it repeats. This morning it crashed when I was either adding a dimension or a line, something simple.

We have been running 2018 on these same machines, it was very stable.

Everything is up to date, and they exceed the hardware requirements.

Haven't yet tried the reset utility.

EDIT: Tried to pattern same geometry again, and it freezes.

Going to run the reset utility.

EDIT #2: Ran reset utility. Tried to pattern, still freezes. Pattern is just a horizontal pattern of (2).

More than likely it's probably something corrupted in the sketch

I created this sketch in 2019.

What I meant in terms of 2018 is that it ran fine on the machine on which now I am now running 2019.

It's just odd that I am having this problem on something as simple as a sketch.

So for now, I'm Sir Save-A-Lot

Hi Guys,

I tried the patterning workflow using the attached file.  I did see a crash on 2019.1.2 and earlier. But, I did not get a crash on our latest internal build targeting 2019.2. I recalled there was a fix in 2019.2 addressing the exact issue. You may have to wait for the update.

It is possible there was corruption in the sketch. If the driven dimension 15.119 (d200) is deleted, the pattern seems to work fine. Could you try it?

Many thanks!
