Hi there,
I'm modelling up a few things that require using BSW threads. I remember being able to edit the .xls file in Inventor 2014 to enable BSW to be used. But I have not had the same success in Inventor 2018.
Does anyone know how to get BSW threads in Inventor 2018?
Any help will be greatly appreciate, thanks in advance.

You need to integrate the attached spreadsheet into your theads.xls spreadsheet found in the design data folder.

What is the easiest way to incorporate this into the .xls file?
Cause I've tried to copy and paste it but that doesn't seem to work.
(For the record I don't have Excel installed on this machine, so I'm uploading the .xls files into google drive and using google sheets to open them.) Is this an issue?
Pretty certain it is a requirement of Inventor to have Excel installed. If you don't, as you are finding out, your hole feature tool will not work because it is dragging information from the xls spreadsheet.

It may be a requirement to modify the .xls file but so far I haven't had any trouble using threads and holes without having Excel installed on this computer. Thanks for your help though, I really appreciate it.
I will find a computer that has Excel installed and will do the editing on that machine, then copy the .xls file over to this machine. Hopefully that works. If not then I will have to purchase Excel.
In recent releases the need for Excel (for some functions) has been removed..
I do believe that there are things like iparts/iassemblies that still require it but threaded holes no longer do..
So just an update on what I have been able to achieve, I tried to edit the .xls file on another computer using Excel, then transferred it to the original computer via a USB. However this did not work properly and the BSW threads were still not there.
What I managed to do was get the .xls file from an old version of Inventor (2014) and copied that file into the Inventor 2018 files. So far this has worked with no issues, although I have noticed that there is a few less thread types than what was there in the original 2018 .xls file. But oh well, at least I have BSW threads now!
We are having a similar problem but we have Excel installed.
The Tapping drill sizes all seem to be wrong, luckily it was spotted by the machinist 1st.
There seems to be a calculation that works it out but no idea how to get inventor to do it correctly.
eg.
1/2" BSW apparently requires a ø26.67 tapping drill according to Inventor????
26.67÷25.4=1.05
then multiply by 10 = ø10.50 which is the correct size tapping drill.
This may be a coincidence but it works for all of the BSW threads.
Could this be solved please?
Hi Chris,
I am sorry I am a bit confused here. Inventor does not ship with any BSW thread table. Where did you get the table from? Also, the issue you are seeing does not seem to be related to the original thread. Could you start a new topic?
Many thanks!
