Inventor 2018 Shrinkwrap Hole Patching

Hi,

 

I am facing a problem with inventor 2018. While creating a shrinkwrap I can't find the option of hole patching.

 

FYI, I was using inventor 2017 earlier and I used to do hole patching while creating the shrinkwrap.

 

Can you please help !!

Hi Moamen,

 

The option should still be there. In Shrinkwrap dialog, go to Features tab.

Hi @kelly.young,

 

Thanks to you for replying. 

 

As you can see in the below-attached screenshot from Inventor 2017, there is an option of selecting the hole patching range while in 2018  I can insert the max. diameter  only

 

Moreover. when I used the remove holes feature in 2018 it removed holes that 2017 didn't remove for the same maximum diameter. 

 

If you need me to send you the file I worked on please let me know.

@Anonymous We did make change in the technology used in Shrinkwrap for release 2018, leading to change in options. 

 

Can you share your data set with us for further inspection?

Hi @kelly.young,

 

As I am going to apply for Inventor professional exam I was practicing by solving some examples. One of these examples was the attached example regarding the Shrinkwrap.

 

I also attached the answer I got using Inventor 2018. 

 

FYI, the correct answer is 34.278 Kg, and I got the same answer using Inventor 2017.

 

Can you please check and advice.

Assembly files are just metadata and links, you have to do a pack & go so it grabs all the related files that make up the assembly.

 

Opening this assembly file just gives us broken links as it's looking for the files that make up said assembly.

@Anonymous just to show you, when an .iam file is opened without the parts it is just a blank assembly with unresolved references.

@Anonymous I got the same mass value in Inventor 2017 and Inventor 2018, see my attached pictures for settings. The range of removing hole in 2017 is Perimeter, while in 2018 is Diameter, so you should input 20/PI in the range box.

Dear @EvanGu,

 

Apart from the example I sent, unlike 2017, 2018 is giving the option to insert the maximum diameter for the hole patching only. 

 

What if I need to patch holes of ranges between 10 - 20 mm for example?.

Hi Moamen,

 

This is the difference between the 2 versions. In this situation, I suggest you create a new part and Derive the assembly, you can still find the options as legacy Shrinkwrap.
