INVENTOR USERS
MY PARTICULAR INDUSTRY IS FORMWORK (FOR THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY)
[FORMWORK IS THE PANELS FOR POURING AND GETTING THE SHAPE OF THE CONCRETE]
[THE FORMWORK ALSO HAS TO BE SUPPORTED IN SPACE BY A " SUPPORT WORK" STRUCTURE]
.
IN MY PARTICULAR INDUSTRY WE ARE VERY INTERESTED THE SURFACE AREA OF ALL THE PANELS USED.
THE PANELS COULD BE A MORE COMPLEX SHAPE AND COULD HAVE FACETS AT DIFFERENT ANGLES.
.
IN THE EXAMPLE ATTACHED (SIMPLIFIED TO A SQUARE PLATE WITH NO STIFFENERS)
WE WOULD ONLY BE INTERESTED IN THE AREA OF FACE 1.
THE IPROPERTIES OPTION, PHYSICAL TAB, AREA BUTTON GIVES
A TOTAL SURFACE AREA OF ALL 6 FACES.
.
IS THERE A WAY TO GET THE AREA PROPERTIES OF FACE 1 ONLY?
THIS WOULD BE EXTREMELY USEFUL.
AT THE MOMENT I AM TAKING THE TOTAL SURFACE AREA AND DIVIDING BY 2
(NOT QUITE ACCURATE AS THE EDGE AREAS ARE STILL INCLUDED)
OR MANUALLY WORKING IT OUT (WHICH IS VERY DIFFICULT WHERE THE SHAPE IS COMPLEX)
.
OBVIOUSLY THERE IS THE OPTION TO EXPORT THE FACE AS A DXF OR DWG AND OPEN IT IN AUTOCAD
TO GET THE AREA OF THE CLOSED PLANAR POLYLINE.
.
HOWEVER I WAS HOPING THERE WAS A WAY TO GET THE SURFACE OF A FACE WITH JUST ONE CLICK,
AND EVEN BETTER TO BE ABLE TO CUMULATIVELY ADD A WHOLE BUNCH OF SURFACES BY CLICKING ON
ALL OF THEM TO GET A TOTAL
