Hello
I have a problem with igs file I've recived to do some updates in model. I can not open it properly because the wole model is a plane not a solid.
Can you help me and tell me what should I do to be able to change it to solid and to make some updates in this model?

I'll be really gratefull for any help.

Have you tried thickening the surfaces?

Also, are you able to get a Sat or Step....something that isn't a surface file?

Hi Julia,

Without the actual igs file, I can only speculate based on the images you attached. It looks like the surfaces in the IGES file has problems. This is why you see an exclamation mark next to the composite node in the browser. I would right-click on it -> Repair Bodies -> Find Errors -> Heal Errors. You might need to unstitch the whole thing and restitch with a tighter tolerance.

There is a lot of small detail faces. Do you need them too? What do you want to do in Inventor besides making it a solid?

Many thanks!

Hi! I attach the file. I've tried this thing with unstich and restich with different tolerances and it didn't work.

All I want to do with this file is to make it solid and change some arches and main lenght of model. Nothing special really.

Big thanks for your help,

Julia

Julia, it's no perfect file from the beginning. There are several faulty spots, especially with the embosses. See picture. All the red curves need some manual repair. Automatic repair procedures will not be able for this task.

I think, it can be done. But it takes some time.

Here's the general shape of the right side, as STEP.

But it seems not ok, as it is at the moment. The yellow face is running into a knife edge at the tip.

Yellow and orange faces would need a small amount of thickening..

Thank you very much! Heart
I hope the step file will be enough for my work.
