Inventor 2017 R2 Cable and Harness ribbon panel grayed out

We just recently upgraded to Inventor 2017 and installed the R2 update.  When we go into the Cable and Harness environment the entire Cable and Harness ribbon panel is grayed out. (see attached screen capture)  All Cable and Harness commands are available by using the right click menu.

To get the ribbon to illuminate we have to click on the File pull down menu and then the ribbon panel illuminates.  (See attached screen capture).

I have multiple workstations that are having this issue.

Any help to fix this problem would be appreciated!

John are your computer gremlins hard at work over at Follett.. Smiley Very Happy  You had numerous issues trying to get Inventor 2017 R2 installed and now this..    I've seen some odd behaviours with the cable n harness ribbon.  Like you work on a model and then the next day you open it up, the ribbon is like what you are seeing.

I can't reproduce the issue at my end but if you watch it, it does take a few seconds for the ribbon to become enabled.  I'm wondering if some part of the code is not completing.  So when you click on the File ribbon tab it syncs.

A few things..

1.  Make sure your graphic driver is up-to-date.  Do not rely on Windows telling you it is.

2.  Clean out your personal temp (%temp% folder as much as possible.

3.  Re-register the Inventor interface by

3a.  Exit Inventor

3b.  Launch a command prompt as (run as) a admin

3c.  Navigate to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2017\bin.

3d.  Type Inventor.exe /install in the command prompt window

3e.  Wait a few seconds and then launch Inventor.

Also I was digging through some old Inventor 2013 notes that I had about a disabled nail-board ribbon issue..   I had jotted down the project file may be causing the issue but that's all I had.  May be something that you'll want to try..  Create a temporary project file and see how it works.

Hi Mark,

I tried all of your suggestions and we are still having the issue.  I guess we just have to live with it.  At least we have a work around.  Thanks for your help!

Thank you for this old post. I couldn't wire my cable, but it all lit up when I clicked the file tab.
