inventor 2017 My Home > advanced menu missing

Hi Folks

When I go the My Home menu I'd like to set the quick open defaults for example "part", to a different template, I can't see any way of doing this. I seen a document and it looked like an "Advanced" menu should be present?  Could it be possible I have a file missing from the install causing this menu not to be present?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

What does it say in the lower right corner of the New box?  Your red ellipse covers the first word, but the rest of it seems to read "... to see advanced templates".

Have you tried the Reset button in the upper right of the home page?

In any case, I use Inventor 2017, and I can't figure out how to get the New box into the condition you show-- I have the Advanced bar along the right side as always.

As mentioned I'd do the reset

However, you also don't have any project's listed on the Right ... should at least see a default project

Hi SBix26,

You can use the resize bar to get the Advanced toggle control to display like the OP showed.

I hope this helps.

Silly me-- I tried the vertical resize bar, but not the horizontal!

Hi SBC-CGI,

I'm not sure that what you're ultimately looking for is in the Advanced settings, but see the resize bar in image I post above, to resize the New area of the Home screen to see the Advanced toggle.

To change which template the default New buttons open, you want to change the Templates directory in one of  2 places:

  1. Your active project file
  2. Tools tab > Application Options button > Files tab

If you have something other than Default specified in the active project file, Inventor will use that path to locate template files, regardless of what is the Application Options setting.

Once you have the template folder set to a path of your choice, Inventor will use the files called Standard.ipt, Standard.iam, Standard.ipn, Standard.idw (or .dwg) , that are located at the root of this folder, for the buttons.

If not files named Standard.i** exist in that folder, Inventor will use "hard coded" files when those buttons are pushed ( if I recall correctly).

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

Hi Curtis

That worked perfect renaming the files that we use to the defaults.

Thanks a lot for your help, I may have one last issue you could possibly help with but ill have another look and open a new post if required.

Thanks again
