Inventor 2016

Hi

I am having troubel getting my Inventor PRO 2016 to get started... When I open the inventor I cannot get the home page up nor start a new sketch?

See ATT. below of picture. The arrow only stands and blink (looks like it is working but nothing comes up).

Anyone any idea what could be wrong?

Hi Morten,

If you look at Tools, App Options, File tab. What do you have set for the team WEB section ? by default it should show %PUBLICDOCUMENTS%\Autodesk\Inventor %RELEASE%\Web\en-US\CustomHelpSample.htm & "Make Team Web the default page in MyHome" should not be checked.

It sounds like you may have redirected MyHome/Team Web elsewhere.

Thanks

Chris

Hi

I cannot find these options on my computer... I have windows 7 service pack 1 currently on my computer. Everything worked fine until about 2 weeks ago, then something happen. I also noted tha all the web sistes I had passwords on disapered and I had to put them in again. Don't know if this has anything to do with it.

Ok try deleting this file - (preference file for MyHome):

%appdata%\Autodesk\Inventor 2016\myhome.json

If that doesn't work, uncheck the option from the App Options General tab for "Show MyHome on Startup" & then exit/restart Inventor to ensure that other aspects of Inventor work OK.

Thanks
Chris

Can you even start a new part file (ipt?) ?

Using the new button then clicking on a part template? Forget my home.. Just the regular way..

And another tip.. Use the Windows snipping tool to easily capture/save screenshots without having to use word..

@ChrisMitchell01 Chris is helping on the "my Home" but I suspect its more than that as you can't even start a sketch,etc.. which should function 100% independent of the my home stuff unless thats the only way you think you can start a part/iam,etc...

If you can't even create a sketch in a new part then it could be graphics related. Have you updated/changed your graphics driver recently ? Try going to Tools, App Options, hardware tab & change to Software Graphics.

What graphics h/w do you have in place ?

Thanks
Chris

@Anonymous You don't want to do that as the solution..

Its like driving a car with an anchor hanging off the back...

You want to update your graphics card driver so that you can get off software graphics..

Software graphics will cause Inventor to be slower.. Its essentially a "diagnostic" tool to use to see if your graphics card/driver is causing the issues or worst case for those that have a computer thats vastly insufficient and work at a company were spending $100 to increase performance is absolutely out of the question.. (so basically a dying/dead company).. Don't be that guy..Smiley Very Happy

Get that driver updated.. or buy a proper graphics card..(but I think an updated driver is all thats needed)

If you post your graphics card type (brand/model) we can tell you what driver you should be using.. Or just head over to the card manufacturers site and load the latest driver..

@Anonymous You need to go to the "Display Tab" not the first system tab.. There it should show the correct information..

Per step 4 of that link I posted..

For graphics card information, switch the tab to "Display" to check.

OK yeah your computer is basically inferior for Inventor so I would suggest trying the "Conservative" setting on tools..application options..hardware tab and uncheck "software graphics"... Then restart Inventor and see if everything works now..

If not then turn back on software graphics and suffer even more of a performance loss...

This would be a good excuse to get your company to pony up for a computer that actually meets the hardware/system requirements for the software you are running..

System requirements here..
