Inventor 2016 install failure on Win 10

Help!!  I have tried to install Product Design Suite Ult 2016 a dozen times on my Win 10 laptop and get a similar failure every time whether I install the whole package or just Inventor.  I have read a lot of the postings and tried everything suggested, but I am an ME, not a CS and I do not understand all of this. Here is the chronicle of my last attempt:

Uninstalled Fusion 360, which installs easily and has been working fine.

Uninstalled all Autodesk programs via Control Panel

Deleted c:\Autocad folder

Deleted all downloads

Deleted contents of Temp folder

Deleted Autodesk folder from User>UserAppdata>Roaming

User Account notifications set to Never Notify

Uninstalled all Microsoft C++ Redist's (Still have some MS stuff for Visual Studio )

Empty Recycle bin (54GB), Empty C drive space: 95GB

Add .net 3.5 via Programs and Features in Control Panel. ( .NET 4.6 is also installed.  I have never gotten a message about this.)

Reboot

Firewall off, which is McAfee

Run the Install from inside my Autodesk account, Run as Administrator (I am the only user, with Administrator permissions)

The log file for the Inventor install failure is shown below, which is what is usually says when it fails:

Install Autodesk® Material Library 2016 Succeeded

Download Play CMILB http://efulfillment.autodesk.com/NET16S...

Download Aborted CMILB http://efulfillment.autodesk.com/NET16SWDLD/2016/PDSU/WI/{E59687A7-E3F5-4...

Install Autodesk® Material Library 2016 - Base Image Library Failed Download Failed, Installation aborted, Result=1603

Rollback Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x64) Update 4 Failed Installation aborted, Result=1619

Rollback Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x86) Update 4 Failed Installation aborted, Result=1619

and I get the colorful screen that says "Installation complete.  Some products failed to install."

The first product listed on that screen is Revit Interop' for Inventor 2016, which has its own log file.  Here are the last few lines from that file:

Installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x64) Update 4: "C:\Autodesk\WI\Autodesk Product Design Suite Ultimate 2016\3rdParty\x64\VCRedist\2012UPD4\vcredist_x64.exe" /install /quiet /norestart /log C:\Users\george\AppData\Local\Temp\vcredist_x64_2012_UPD4.log

Note that it says for the Inventor install failure that Materials Library 2016 install succeeded, then it aborts on the CMILB download.  For the Revit install failure it says that the Material Lib Base Image Library download failed.  Was it trying to install it a second time?

Any insights would be appreciated.

Geo.

Do not use

Download Manager

or

Install Now.

Use the Autodesk Virtual Agent to get the 3 compressed files (essentially the same as having a USB or DVD of the install files).

Post back when you have these 3 files.

Got 'em in a folder on the desktop.  It is tempting to start clicking, but will await further advice.  You are doing good so far.

Once you get all three files, click on the #1 file, it will start the extraction process and create a default C:\Autodesk folder. Inside the primary folder should be the install.exe if the install process dosen't start on it's own.

Inventor 2020, In-Cad, Simulation Mechanical

Just insert the picture rather than attaching it as a file

I recommend that before you do the new install that you find the Autodesk Clean Uninstall instructions and make sure you have removed all traces of previous attempt.

Make sure you have Microsoft Excel installed and run at least once.

Temporarily disable UAC and Anti-virus.

Now double click on 001

That worked! I am up and running. I did find one registry entry to delete and the various other Autodesk folders as instructed by the Clean Uninstall guide. Thanks for the consulting. I am impressed how responsive the Community is. George
