Hi all
I have installed Autodesk design suite 2015 without an problems and all appears to be fine except i get a dialog box that opens whenever i open a part or assembly. Even when i open a part thats in an assembly ( to edit)
Dialog box screen grab attached
Initally i thought it may have something to do with my models that id made in Invrntor Pro 2010 but i get the same issue when i make a prt or assembly from scratch in 2015.
Fir info i have tried a few things including completely de installing 2010 & 2015 then doing the usuall clean and installing 2015 again.
All help / advice appreciatted
Thanks

Thanks for the reply Maria but i dont see how those things are realted to my issue ??
Is evident that if the AV is not turned off during instalation process some dll or components maybe can not be written to disk and you only get a defective installation......Or if you are not a user with maximum permissions on the machine.
That's how it can help your problem.
The proper procedure for installing AutoDesk software can be found here: AutoDesk Software Installation Guide.
It sounds like you're having an issue with your ACADE interoperability add-in. Try disabling it and see if the error persists.
Hi Maria, Well that might be it but i had installed in compliance with the Autodesk requirement.
Im now trying to narrow down the exact instances when it occurs
Cheers
Phil
Thanks for the reply Mike,
The only doubt i have is during my latest reinstall i may have not adjusted the UAC.
When i can figure out how to disable ACADE ill try that as well.
Cheers
Phil
Seems you put me on the right track Mike thanks
I went to add ins and unloaded Electrical Catalog brouwser and the pop up warning have stopped.
Still not confident all is as it should be but at least now i can work through to the weekend when i have more time to investigate, without the irritating dialogs popping up.
If i discover anything else ill post back here in case anybody else experiences the same problem.
Thanks
PS still cant believe there's no showcase in Design suite ultimate 2015 ....dissapointed and baffled ...almost in equal measures
At what moment in time did AD decide giving us a mesh renderer ( 3D max design) would be a good substitute for showcase
Sorry had to get that off my chest

You might want to take another look at this situation. It seems enough ruckus was made over ShowCase that AutoDesk listened and made it available at the last minute as a separate download for current subscription customers. I haven't seen it pop up in the Subscription Center, yet, but that is the official word from an official AutoDesker (I think it was Janna Spicer?).
Thanks Mike ill keep an eye out for that. Its not currently avalable in my subsription centre area yet either but heres hoping !
Phil,
The add-in you have disabled is a new feature of 2015 to improve the interoperability between certain aspects of AutoCAD-Electrical & Inventor. Do you have ACAD-E 2015 installed, either from the official release or perhaps from a Beta version ?
Thanks
Chris
Hi Chris
Yes i do have it installed, as part of the 2015 Product Design Suite X64 I downloaded from the subscription centre. I installed the complete package.
Installed on my machine that previously had Inventor 2010 Pro installed.
I also downloaded ACAD 2015 but have yet to install that.

Phil,
Apparently we saw this error a couple of times during our various testing activities. It seemed to be related to some outstanding MS updates, (I don't know which exactly), & once updates were current & a reboot had been performed this issue did not recur.
Could you please ensure you are current on MS updates & reboot ? Then enable the add-in & see if the problem is fixed ? This would be useful info for us. Obviously if you don't use that add-in you can unload it again afterwards.
Thanks
Chris
Hi Chris,
Thanks and ill certainly do what i can to give you useful feedback.
I make a point of keeping my system up to date with MS update, certainly before installing any new software. I also make sure i am using the latest drivers for video card , MB , audio etc.
I plan to do some more investigation at the weekend when i have a bit more time to focus on this issue. Ill be sure to document my findings then.
My curent plan is to try to get the problem to repeat by "loading" the add in again and then take it from there.

Hi CHris,
Well ive tried a few things and the issues is repeatable and centers around the electrical catalog brouser.
When unloaded the problems dissappears. I do have to restart Inv to unload the add in ( unlike for example frame generator which i can load . unload without having to restart Inventor)
The pop ups only occur when opening/ closing an assembly. Part files. drawings. presentations work fine.
The problem occurs with all assemblies . My old ones from Inv 2010 pro and new ones recently made in Inv2015.
Ive attached some screen grabs for your info
I am now going to do a complete reinstall and see if that helps any.

Hi
Ive now done a complete re install and still have the identical problem.
De-installed everything ...... deleted all references to Autodesk in user & public folders. Scanned and cleaned the registry.
Rechecked that all MS , mother board , graphics card drivers were up to date.
Ran some system checks , memtest , prime 95
Re installed without problems. Everythign working as expected but the pop ups still appear
Unloading the add in stops the problem.
Been using Inventor now for 6 hours straight with no further issues!
Hi CHris
Ive tried shutting down AV and firewall but the problem remains.
It definately centres around the assembly envoiroment. Opening and closing parts isnt a problem. But opening the same parts in an assembly causes the pop up. As well as opening or closing the assembly itself.
I could record a screen capture if you think that may help in identifying the issue.
Cheers
Phil
Thanks Phil,
No need for a scren capture - we'll do some further investigations & let you know what we discover.
Thanks
Chris
