Inventor 2014 Tube & PIpe flexible hose not updating

Hi folks,

I have this tube & pipe assembly I haven't touched in months, and today I noticed that a plate was in the wrong place- it's legacy equipment so it's not too big a deal, but it still needs fixing.

The plate (circled in red) has moved 222mm from right to left:

And that is the only thing that has changed.

Rebuild all at any assembly level does not work.

Global update (if I can get it to appear) does not work.

All files are checked out and writeable by Inventor.

Thoughts/suggestions greatly appreciated.

I am unable to share these files with anyone.

Did that fitting change rotation at all as the plate moved?  How about any fititngs at the other end?  Can you open and edit the route?

Hi Chris,

The fitting attached to the plate remained in the same orientation, the fitting at the other end didn't move either.

I am able to open and edit the route, but it appears as though the flexible hose that uses it has become disassociated with it- which also means I am unable to delete the broken hose or it seems the route it isn't now following. 

I was tempted to look in the API documentation to see if there's a method for forcible deletion of a tube & pipe but hadn't gotten that far as yet.

Do you mean it is not available in the Tube & Pipe style?  Disassociated how?  That could be the key.  What happens if you edit theroute, and basically redraw the 3D sketch?  Still no hose?  Can you assign a different hose style to the run and see if it renereates based on that?

Sorry, throwing out lots of things as I think of them, trying to narrow down the root cause.

Without the File(s) it's pretty tough. Most times it's best just to delete the specific run and re-create. If the grounding work point and plain have become detached it's a realy "#@&#@" to fix. The existing Tube & Pipe Style that's in the IAM should still work for re-creating the run.

I've never run across a T & P run that can't be deleted. That seams more like a corrupt file issue than T & P.

Hi Blair/Chris,

My first attempt at fixing this was to manually edit the hose and in the 3DSketch use the include geometry tool to pull in the new route, this had its own set of issues so this morning I took on Blair's suggestion and deleted the route altogether, replacing it with a new route of the same style.

@-niels- Has mentioned something similar happening to him. Make sure you open the assembly in full and not express in the open dialog or from the menu but before you change anything.

I had this problem with fittings not moving with the equipment and the only solution then was to edit fitting connection, delete the connection then connect fitting again.

Is that a hydraulic hose with fittings our without? Slightly different approaches here.

I will describe a hose without fittings procedure because it includes the one with fittings. Sorry for the logo on the images but this will go on the blog as it seems others might benefit from it.

1 - Edit the Hose route and change it to Hose with fittings (your choice of fittings).

 

2 - Finish and populate the hose run.

3 - Edit the Flexible Hose assembly ( assembly that contains the hose route, hose fittings and hose part)

4 - Right click on the fitting you need moving (the one not updating for you), choose edit fitting connection and remove the connection that you wish to move, update or relocate. Click OK

5 - Step up at the run level that contains this flexible house assembly. And use the “connect fitting” command. This will be unavailable/greyed out at the flexible hose assembly level. Select the end of the fitting and the location you want it moved to.

6 - Go back inside hose route and change the style to hydraulic hose no fittings and finish the route.

You need to change style to hose with fittings because otherwise it acts as a route continuation rather than moving the end connection point.

I am getting the same problem.  Inventor crashed.  I had deleted the route. But then inventor crashed without saving.  Now the flexible hose is seperate from hose 01.  and the delete feture is grayed out.  The edit keeps pulling up a sketch menu and still does not let me delete anything.
