Inventor 2014 LT Service Pack Install problems

Anonymous
Not applicable

Would someone please respond?

This is regarding Inventor 2014 LT installation. I have attempted to install the produce on three different machines with the same sad results. The application appears to install correctly however the Service Pack required to make it run in Windows 8.1 will not install. The current machine is a new box running the current version of Windows 8.1, antivirus software removed, firewall off. I get the following message on all three machines I have attempted to install it on.

Windows Installer
”The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.”

I read on one post regarding this problem that the patch install is an option on the Inventor Pro Install application, which is apparently not the case on the LT version. On another post it says to just click on the MSP file (which is what I have been doing) to install the patch. Is anyone anywhere running this product successfully on Win8.1?

Post screen shot of the exact Service Pack you are trying to install.

Thanks for the come back. I have attempted to install Service pack 1, 2 and 3. All with the same results. The screen shot attached is from the SP2 link supplied in your response.

The screen shot you attached does not give useful information - it should match mine screen shot.

Where did you locate a Service Pack 3 for LT?

Just going by your screen shot, I'd first say it looks like your either attempting to download a SP for something other than Inventor LT.

It says the program doesn't exist or the Service Pack is for a different version. That tells me (if in fact you do have Inventor LT installed) that you may have selected the wrong SP. Maybe even along the lines of you slecting the 32 bit as opposed to the 64 bit version or vice versa. Does the service pack apply to LT?

JD, I don't see your screen shot. The file I have for Service Pack 1 is Inventor2014_SP1_x64.MSP and tthe size is 96,018,432 bytes. I am not sure where I located a  Servicee Pack 3 as that was weeks ago on another mahine.

LT SP.PNG

Surely you can.
I can see it in the image you attached above.

I don't see the LT anywhere in that filename?

I linked the words Service Pack and the Image I attached above to the correct Service Pack 2 for LT (includes SP1).

Your right, I don't see LT in the file name either. I hope it's that simple. The link does not seem tobe working.

If you are using Internet Explorer - you should see this at the bottom of the screen when clicking the link.

Save the SP.PNG
