When you select two hole surfaces, Solidworks default measures the center to center dimension.
You can also select the closest distance between the two holes, or the furthest, from a pull down menu.
I can't find an equivalent functionality in Inventor.
All I can seem to do is measure the closest distance between the two holes. 99% of the time I want center to center.
I assume I'm missing something simple … ?

Hi!
This is not true.
Inventor can give you the same measures you are referring, also you can make sums, copy/paste values, etc etc.
Go to help and learn more about the tool.
When you select the measure tool and select the circle, RC and "Select Other"
That will give you more selection choices.

Hi @Anonymous,
Welcome to the Inventor forum.
What version of Inventor are you using? There have been some changes to the measure tool in recent versions.
I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

The picture i attach above is from the 2019 version, Autodesk improved a lot this tool.
If you have 2017, you have to use the "select other" option. Sorry, but i dont think you can set the measure between centers by default, but you will get used to it fast... we all did... but you are right... it's not the better option, tht's why they change a lot the tool, and now it works a lot better, at least in my opinion.
