Whenever I open up my inventer and click on that I want to do a new file. We'll I do that. Next I try to do what I want but I can't do anything because it tells me it's not responding. Most of the time it will close and ask me if I want to send a report to Autodesk. Can't anybody help

What version of Windows?

What version of Inventor (including Service Packs and Updates)?

Do you have MS Excel installed and run at least once?

Did Inventor ever work on this machine?

Was Inventor installed with UAC and anti-virus temporarily disabled?

Did you send the crash report to Autodesk with your contact information?

You indicated Inventor 2014 but you didn't fully answer JD's question..  Have you applied all the latest service packs and hot fixes for it?   Have you at least run (launched) Micosoft Excel at least once?

You have not answered all of my questions?

Are you a student?

If so, does your school have a Student IT Help Desk that can help you install software or answer computer related questions?

If not, why are you installing an old version of Inventor - where did you get the software?

Run Microsoft Excel - does it work?

Disable antivirus and UAC and go to the Control Panel and run a Repair Install on Inventor.

Download and install the latest Service Pack and Update for 2014.

Does Inventor run now?

Well first you need to determine if you did update or not.

In the upper right hand corner you will see a circle with a question mark in it.  Select the down-arrow next to it and select About Inventor..  Post a screen shot of the about dialog.

But to answer your question updates are down here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/downloads?release=2014

You need to download and apply service pack 2 first and then update 7.  Not sure what you tried first to get that message.
