Inv 2020 will not install

Hello,

Recently tried to install Inventor 2020 on my work machine and get the following error through ADA:

The 2147943860 error code comes up as -214794386 when I click "search for a solution" which brings up nothing. Searching for the 2147943860 also brings up nothing. I manually updated Visual C++ using both the 2012 redist (why?) and most current redist, both x86 and x64 which my machine is and this did not fix it. Deleting temp files and reattempting the install through ADA did not work.

I next tried a manual install and got this:

Doesn't make enough sense to me to try any specific troubleshooting approach.

Computer has all drivers updated, most current build of Windows and Windows Update shows everything is up to date. Computer was freshly booted from a fully shut-down state prior to both installation attempts. Reviewing the logfile from the first install doesn't reveal anything helpful to me, the 2012 x86 redist install just fails and the installer aborts. Wasted most of my morning on this, any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Had an entire week to figured it out while my post sat flagged as spam with no response from the moderators until this morning.

advpack.dll was the source of the issue, and changing my temporary files directory allowed the install. Consider this a closed matter.

what did you do to fix the issue? Did you download the files outside of the C drive?

Well I tried both of the download methods mentioned above and I get the exact same error messages the origanal poster got. It says that Autodesk Inventor is already downloading and gives me an error.

A few things..

1.  Don't use the desktop app to install your products.  Follow method #2 here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/getting-started/caas/simplecontent/content/perferred-...

2.  For 2020, you first need to install the latest licensing mechanism (before installing your product): https://synergiscadblog.com/2019/07/24/autodesk-licensing-mechanism/

3. Your issue is related to >>this<<

For item 3, if that doesn't resolve the issue you need to create a new Window user's account with admin rights and install your software with that new account.
