Include/Exclude BOM bug when include/exclude is not put in table of I-Assembly

After exclude.jpgBefore exclude.jpg

When creating an I-Assembly and use exclude to exclude a part (which of course is wrong to delete a part) although you didn´t put the component include/exclude in the table, the Quantity is not managed in the BOM. The Problem is that you don´t see the part anymore in the Inventor window (only in the tree). So you assume the part is not in the Assembly anymore. If doing an automatic Bom export to your ERP System (e.G. SAP) the new SAP assembly contains this part even if the Inventor assembly doesn´t show it.

Welcome to the Autodesk User's Community..

May I ask what Inventor version you're using and what updates have you applied to it?

Hi Hendrik,

The behavior captured in the images does not look right to me. Something is wrong. Could you share the files here or send them to me (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com)? I would like to understand the behavior better.

Many thanks!

This is just a simple I-Assmebly. I excluded the last part, but in the BOM it is still with quantity 1, because it is not excluded with table. The problem is that it is possible to exclude the part without having include exclude of that part in the table.

Hi Hendrik,

I see the confusion. The issue here is that for the iAssembly member, the given part is not excluded. What you need to do is to edit the author table -> add "GA-24137663:1" as a column. For this particular row, this component needs to be set as "Excluded." After that, you will see the BOM table capture the status correctly.

Could you try it and see if it works better?

Many thanks!

I know how to work around, I just wantes to post this to avoid others make this mistake. This is a bug and it should befixed by autodesk for future versions. Maybe it is wrong to be posted here, but where can I report things like this to autodesk?

Hello @hendrik.rampenthal,

This is interesting, for exlude and include command, it particular to a specific part and column separated in the iAssembly table.

However, even without the column, the QTY number is right in my end, is there any differences between us?

I, don´t know why this is not a problem at you, there is a small difference I can see at your picture, you´ve got a level of detail which usually comes when suppressing things. but not when excluding things. Maybe your Inventor Version is newer and that issue is fixed?

Hello @hendrik.rampenthal,

The key here that you have to set the exclude component per member scope, it's meaningless when set to factory scope. Perhaps, the way to remove exclude command or gray out exclude command when factory scope was active.

Sorry for confusion, never said it's not a problem.

Here is a video for your reference.

Hope it helps!

It would be helpfull when exclude would be greyed out in factory scope. However there is still a small bug:

when working in Member scope and having only one child, the Bill of Material again shows QTY 1 for the excluded part. This only changes when having more than one child.
