Importing STEP file, part name "Document"

Hi,

2023 version has a problem that while importing step file , Part number allways comes with name "Document".

Previous version named files by file name.

Can't agee with that.

If I open this file in 2021 version, than it is no problem. Part name = File name.

If there is nothing to do, than maby 2024 version will solve this problem.

Hi! Many thanks for your patience! I tried it on 2021, 2022, and 2023. Indeed, there is a change in behavior on 2023.  You are right. "Part Number" used to be empty but now it seems to grab the number from #135. I need to check with the project team and see if this change is intended and for what purpose.

Hi! I did get confirmation from the project team. Indeed, it was an intended change to properly honor the STEP spec. According to STEP spec, the first argument is the product ID (Part Number). In your case, it is "Document."

ENTITY product;
id : identifier;
name : label;
description : OPTIONAL text;
frame_of_reference : SET [1:?] OF product_context;
END_ENTITY;

As you can see from the previous reply it is not an "issue"; it is working as intended.  No surprise at all that 2024 behaves the same.
