Importing Solidworks file

Hello,

I have imported a Solidworks file into Inventor. How do i see how each feature has been created as there is no Tree

1. How do i view/edit the sketches for each feature (Revolve, Extrusions etc..etc...)?

Regards

The very simple answer is: you can't see any of that, because it doesn't translate.  All you get is the solid body, not the features that define it.

There is an add-in from Autodesk called Feature Recognition that will help to reconstruct a useable feature tree for uncomplicated models, but for more complex models it is not particularly helpful.

If you really need to be able to fully edit the model, I suggest using the imported part for measurements, and re-model it in Inventor.  But if you don't need the full feature tree, Direct Edit is able to do a lot of parametric editing of a 'dumb' solid.

Direct Edit, Delete Face, Split Objects, Copy Object should be more than enough if you need to modify the model.

remodeling would take too long if you ask me.

Hi Adrian,

Just purely based on the image, the part does not look too difficult. It is a cylinder housing with 4 equal outlets/inlets and 2 tabs. A middle-level Inventor user should be able to finish it within an hour. He might be able to use Feature Recognition to save some time. But, the pattern may not be recognized.

Many thanks!
