imported part for reverse engineering - modeling welds

Hello, Im currently struggling with finishing my reverse-modeled part. Last thing I need to do is somehow replicate welds between flange and scanned pipe. Pipe is full-body imported mesh, and I cant find any way to really connect anything to its irregular surface. Is there any way to connect pipe to the flange, as shown on picture below?

Im using Inventor 2023/2024.

Is there any chance of attaching file back?
Currently watching youtube explaining this loft function, since I never needed to use it before, but I guess that I would understand it faster in your file.

Here's my try. I've made a loft as well as the previous poster.
2 problems:

1. You can't combine the solids in the files just like that, because I've tried to no avail.

2. There's nothing I can do to make the seams blend any better, so there you have it.

The next step would be to design the whole part from scratch, which isn't a bad idea as the part is pretty rough on the CPU as it is.

thanks Marc for your take. Noticed the problem with combining solids aswell. Process of modelling of this parts is our teach´s procedure that we needed to follow, to the point of importing mesh from VX into inventor and then giving us free hand to deal with it ourselves. Since the imported mesh is given I could find other way to to it. Anyway for this project I think its enough as you and gentleman above helped me. For some nicer visuals I also found option to custom loft points as on picture below:

Being able to round off edges of loft would be nice but this is probably the problem of not being able to combine solids, as they dont communicate with each other in round off edges operation. 

With these advices I will be able to finish this project. Thank you both alot 🙂

update: edge between loft and flange can be rounded off, just not the one between loft and mesh-pipe.

...but invetor crashed in process of marking the edges 😄

Edit: I will try custom loft points as well. Thank you for sharing this technique!
