Import STEP files and lose right click bug?

After I import a non Inventor file type into the .iam assembly model, I lose right click options.

This is the procedure I'm following and its super repeatable.

1. Open a .iam assembly model with some existing files inside.

2. Save a .STEP (or .sldprt or .igs, etc.) into my working directory.

3. Drag and drop this file into the assembly model window.

4. Place a constraint on the imported file (Inventor says the file must be saved first)

5. Save the assembly.
6. Right click does not work.

Hi Dan,

I cannot seem to reproduce it on 2021.1 update. Please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed and the applicable Inventor updates are installed.

Many thanks!

Please fix this issue for future Inventor versions.

Current update for Inventor 2021 is 2021.4.2.  Install the .4 update, followed by the 4.2 update.

A video or series of screenshots would be helpful for anyone trying to reproduce your issue.

Hi Folks,

I believe this is similar to the following thread. Finally, we are able to reproduce it and it has been reported as INVGEN-63342.

We have 1 user experiencing this issue.  I believe we are current on updates for Inventor 2022.  Looking to see if there was a fix or, is there a way for us to check status of INVGEN-63342?

Hi Christi,

I just checked the status of INVGEN-63342. It shows it has been fixed on 2023.2 and 2024, but not on 2022. I will work with the project team to see if the fix can be ported back to 2022.

Many thanks!
