Import problem with .sat and step files

When I bring in a .sat or .step file, the drawing comes in with the wrong
units. Just changing the units under Tools > Document settings does not
correct it. How do I ensure that the parts are brought in correctly?

I posted an example in iCF under the same heading. In the example, the
diameter of the large end should be 30.48mm not 30.48 in.

Kirk,

Since the first field in the third record of the sat is "-1", you should be
able to specify the units (option) on import. If you replace the "-1" with
"1" it will come in as mm.

Don't think I've ever had a stp come in wrong and would guess the units were
set incorrectly on the sender's end.

I've got an interesting SAT file from yesterday, it came in fine, it looks spot on. I can edit base feature to delete
holes etc, but I try and create a Sketch on any of the flat faces it comes up a message about invalid sketch axis
orientation, please redefine. If I sketch on an origin plane it's OK but when I try and extrude, it comes up with the
same message.

Wierd, I'm gonna try and do some "messing" with it in MDT to see if it comes through properly.

Have you tried importing with the healer on (or off, as may be the case)? If
the shape is complex I can't recommend use of the healer in IV, but try it in
MDT where you can turn off the spline tangency healer option and increase the
Simplify tolerance a couple of hundred thou or even up it to .001. It will
sometime help.

Also, while in MDT, run AmSanityCheck on the part (but you knew that, didn't
you ).
