Hi Everyone!
I have a question about importing .step files.
Firstly I have a lot of .step files. (About ten thousand pieces)
The step file names is an item number. I want to import these files to the Content Center. I have an Excel file with these files item number and each item number contains a description and I want to add this description to the iProperties.
Can I do this fully automatic? Because importing 10k files manually it takes a lot of time.
Thanks,
Barnabas Lazar

All the stp files must be imported into Inventor and saved to Inventor IPT files. From there you can mass publish (batch publish/manage tab) those part files to content center but they will all be separate CC families. Is that what you're looking for? Meaning you referenced an excel spreadsheet with all your data...

Hi! Thanks for your reply I did the first job.
I done with the step file convert to the .ipt.
For example this folder.
The next step to copy all files to the Content Center and than copy file description from the Excel to the same article numbers.
Here are some pictures to see what I want. 🙂
Many thanks for your help!

I have a similar situation however I would rather all the parts of the same type be in a single-family. Like the way, inventor handles hex bolts vs heavy hex. Is this possible or would I need to create my own Ipart then populate the table with the size data to accomplish this?

Content Center families work off like an iPart table. You could start an iPart with a single member and then publish it to the content center and finish the info there. Or you could develop a more in depth ipart table with all the members and then publish to content center. But if you currently have separate files, these separate files cannot be publish to a single family table.
