iMates with iAssemblies in an iAssembly

I am on 2016 I have an assembly that is composed of iAssemblies. I have 10 transformers as the base component. Then I have another iAssembly with 2 different aluminum extrusions that share a common bolt pattern. Is there a way with I mates to have the extrusions mate to the transformer2 with iMates so that when I change between configurations the mates will not break. This should allow for 20 configurations to be selected and properly mated I have things like insulators that are common to both pieces and need to be able to mate to all 10 transformers. Do I have to create the iMates for all 10 transformers and then use the configuration to enable or disable them?

Hi! In general, the preferred workflow to constrain iPart/iAssembly components is indeed using iMates. This is because the regular assembly constraint may lose geometry reference when you change from iPart/iAssembly member 1 to member 2.

Unfortunately, iMate cannot be shared. So, if you need to mate multiple times with the same part, the mating part will need to have that many iMates. Please share an example here so forum experts can take a look and provide some guidance. It should work.
