igs problems...

 HI

I am trying to import an .IGS file into inventor. Which i know how to do, but when i do it comes in as a wire frame and not as a solid part. But as multiple faces. Any idea how to get this so i use it like a normal part?

Hello,

When you get the box come up, just have Surfaces on Object filters

This brought it in as a solid for me.

Hope this helps?

Hi! Another possibility is that the igs file simply does not contain a solid body. There are few CAD systems capable of exporting solid bodies to igs (Inventor and AutoCAD are two of them). You can edit the igs file in Notepad and look at the header to see where the igs was exported from.

If the imported bodies are surface bodies constituting a close volume, you can use Stitch command in Inventor to turn it into a solid body.

Many thanks!
