idw table - copy & pasting?

Is there any way to copy & paste a normal table in an idw? We've got a
3-sheet idw and want a specific table to exist on all sheets, so naturally
copy & paste would be ideal as it already exists on the top-sheet...

Can copy parts list tables but can't find a way for a normal table (not
linked to a view). Surely I've missed something and this must be needed
frequently.

You haven't missed anything. You cannot even copy and paste a simple general table. Pretty stupid isn't it.

I just found out when you select the text inside the table, and ctrl+c....and ctrl+v in the new table, so you can copy.

any hotfix for this?????

there is possible to export the table to excel and after you can import it but there will be a link between the excel file and the table and if you delete the excel file you cannot change the table anymore...

@Anonymous

what are you looking to do?

I copy and paste all the time ... including Sketch symbols.

If you could give more detail of what you're looking for ..maybe there is a way, or a work around

Hello,

I want to duplicate a table containing all the members of an iAssembly with part number and other columns.

I want to avoid having to make a new table starting from scratch.

All this because sorting only has 3 levels and I need 4...

So I'm filtering the info so the 3 levels are enough.

In two words: "Duplicate Table"

Thanks.

So make a Sketch symbol table that populates off of the assembly/iassembly you're using.

Maybe make a new post, include an example part/assembly and IDW you're trying to "duplicate"    Shouldn't be a problem, if I'm understanding your question 100%

M

Hello,

As this thread started, imagine I want to copy-paste a table from one page to an other.  Or from one drawing to an other...

Here is a portion of the table I want to duplicate.

I don't seem to be able to insert a table in to a Symbol thou...

Thanks'

Have you tried copying the entire sheet to a temp drawing and then back to the source drawing?  That's what I do if I need to show the same views of different position reps in the same idw.

Is this just a "general table" in Inventor or a "parts list"?

What version of Inventor are you using?

Just right click on the table and select "copy" then go to the new page and press "paste"..

If you thought I haven't tried that...

You'd be correct!

Since I really wanted the copy in the same sheet, but, just as when trying to copy a sheet you need to make a new file, copy from that new file and paste back in the original, you can copy the table, paste it in an other sheet, copy again and paste back in the original sheet.

What a workflow!

What a waste of time!

I really don't believe Autodesk is thinking things through...

Thanks

@SF8906

You realize this post is from 2009 and then last answered on in 2016 ...

Do you still have an issue with C/P'ing in Inventor
