.idw different appearance .ipn vs .iam

Hello,

My .ipt and .iam finishes look completely different when inserted into a .idw. Is there anyway that I can make the parts appear the same on the .idw. The blue and red part are set to the same color in both the .ipn and .iam.

Thank you in advance.

Attached is my .idw, on the left is the .ipn and on the right is the .iam

Welcome to the dismal foresight of Inventor lol.

Who knows why a program has so many variables when it was invented during a time when PCs had less impressive hardware to manage multiple variables.

As far as I know, that's just the way it is. It's dumb because it would be awesome to be able to toggle view styles just like the model environments. It would also be nice if the IPT environment adopted the higher end look of the IAM environment too.

There are current idea supporting this, so be certain to back them and wait for the deployment.

Also be sure to play around with the Snapshot view settings. There's some control, but not all.

What version of Inventor are you using? As noted in that link above, they did bring in lighting based on the model to the drawing in 2022. This looks close when compared to me.

Hi! Without seeing the files, I would speculate that it is probably related to lighting style difference between the assembly and the presentation. Starting from 2022, the drawing shaded view utilizes the lighting style from the model (iam or ipt or ipn). Please make sure the lighting style in the iam file is the same as the one in the ipn.

If it still does not work, please share the files here. I would like to understand the behavior better.

Many thanks!

Yes, I just played with the light styles and got the appearance I was looking for. Thank you!
