Ideas For Fabrication Services

I haven't contributed to this forum in a very long time.  If this isn't the right forum, let me know.  Currently I am on assignment at a medical device company.  As this assignment winds down I thought I'd do some market research about fabrication service availability.    Somehow, I am under the impression that now is the time to consider becoming a provider.  I have some questions:

• Are you satisfied with the availability of ultra fast Fabrication/Manufacturing (machining, sheet metal, plastic) service providers?
• Do you base design fabrication on a model centric approach?
• How fast is fast?
• Do you routinely work/design/meet with Engineering Service providers remotely over the Internet.
• Considering design/drafting/fabrication, are you satisfied with being able to find the right service, at the right time and at the right price?

Although I can't answer your questions...   But my response would be...   How many user's on this forum actualy deal directly with a given Vendors such as a fabrication services? Yes there's problem a certain percentage on here that does...   However contacting and working with Vendors may be done through a different department which in most cases does not have any knowledge of CAD and wouldn't be on this forum.
