iAssembly - Use Content Center parts only

Hello,
I'd like to prepare iAssembly for flanged connections in various sizes and use them as phantom assembly in my piping assemblies.

This is how my assembly for DN50 looks like:

Notice, only Content Center part are used there.

For DN50 its:

  • DIN EN 1092-1 Plate Flange for Welding Type 01 - PN 16 50 x 60.3
  • ISO 4014 M16 x 65
  • ISO 4032 M16
  • ISO 7089 16

For DN80 it would be:

(note: fastener count is taken automatically from flange hole pattern)

  • DIN EN 1092-1 Plate Flange for Welding Type 01 - PN 16 80 x 88.9
  • ISO 4014 M16 x 65
  • ISO 4032 M16
  • ISO 7089 16

Similarly for DN200

  • DIN EN 1092-1 Plate Flange for Welding Type 01 - PN 16 200 x 219.1
  • ISO 4014 M20 x 80
  • ISO 4032 M20
  • ISO 7089 20

How to change size of them by iAssembly table?

I found similar topic: iAssembly with content center part and it seems that this is not possible with Content Center (CC) part (it's possible only with iParts).

So, if I want to use only CC parts, only a nasty workaround comes on my mind - create an iAssembly where all variants of the flanged connection will be and for each member has only one of them not suppressed.

Please prove me wrong and tell me there is some cleaner and more convenient solution.

If I am following you, can you insert the various sizes of fasteners required into the parent hole of the feature pattern. Then as the I part changes, the fastener count auto updates, and then in the iAssy table you can choose to include/exclude the fasteners for each, maybe also set the bom structure to reference as well? Just a thought.

You are correct for an iAssembly if the geometry comes from content center you will need to place each possible combination  and suppress. This is because your not working with the iPart factory table but rather with the members.

If you have the flanges and bolts as your own iParts library you could just work with the iPart table data to change the members.

A possible solution is use ilogic to change the CC member row and then tie that to a similar change in bolt sizes. This can be difficult, much easier to do the task manually.

Another is to  create a single assembly per size and just use an iLogic rule  to place that assembly by it’s file path or a replace if your replacing an existing assembly.
