Hi,
what is suggested approach to design elastic parts and use them in assemblies?
For example: O-ring
Nominal dimensions: d_s = 3 mm, d_i = 20 mm (shape in drawing for manufacture)
But groove is 2×4 mm and d_i = 22 mm (shape for assembly)
Is possible to achieve it with one part?
(Yellow is - obviously -what I get when place first part into an asssembly)
PS: O-ring is only (simple) example. I want to use it for more complex custom sealings.

Hello @j.pavlicek,
This is something called part alternative representation internally and there is a new project working in progress to address such request, you can participate the beta program to experience the new enhancement.
In addition, you can also cast the vote to below idea.
Currently, you may consider iPart or iLogic to handle it.
Hope it helps!
Hi,
Depends on exactly what your expectations are.
For o-rings and other seals I model them as deformed (after all this is just for representation). but all of a certain type share the same part number.

If in need for realistic parts I will create them adjustable to start with. In the example of an O-ring : if you design it as an oval shape you can tweak it into round with proper variable values, it doesn't work the other way. May sound like a lot of work but once you have one you have them all. Production parts can't be done this way because they need to be in released state, meaning frozen, so I have working alternatives for use in assemblies. Main disadvantage is that you have to update 2 files when going through any change. If flexible geometry is to hard to setup I will cut the "stiff" part and recreate a flexed version on the spot. A true-false variable will display either state.
Another vote for iparts.
One member for the as-molded version, then additional members for all the various as-installed versions.
I would not bother doing this for O-rings, but I might for a complex seal or other flexible part.
If/when the alternate rep behavior gets released you may have more options.

u can use two different configuations
driving parameters in ilogic
for ex: using ellipse in compression stage
and circle in un compression stage
Hello @j.pavlicek here might be a decent way to quickly switch between part configurations with parameters. You can also animate for visual presentation.
