How to stop "Write enable (not checked out from Vault)" prompt

Hi All,

Is there a way to hide this prompt or stop inventor defaulting to Yes for files that are NOT checked out? I don't EVER want to save changes to checked in files.

If I'm not careful EVERY time i CTR-S,  inventor will overwrite local copies of files I have not changed, giving a out of turn edit status.

Hey Colin,

Welcome to the forum.

If you look around in some older threads, you will see this has been beat to death over the years.  There have been some changes, but there are still times when I too see what you are describing and I hate to have an "Edit out of turn" status on any of my files.

A few things that you can do to slow this from happening.

1. In Tools > application options, save tab.... uncheck the "Prompt to save for re-computable updates".

2. In the assembly that you show in the screen shot, you can select the "no to all" and then if you want to save the assembly, change it to "yes".  When you close the assembly, Inventor will still ask if you want to save ( because the files have unsaved changes). You can say No here.

3. You can check out everything, save and close.

Are you using Vault Basic, workgroup or pro?

Inventor does this if you update the files and needs to save these changes in order to check in your top level model.

Sometimes if properties are out of date this will happen. I suggest checking that in your inventor options yu have "Update physical properties on save" set to "parts and assemblies".

You have two options, save and overwrite the local copies. The next time you get the file from vault you shouldn't get these local copies so dont worry.

If if you don't want to save the local copies then you can go to the vault tab in the model tree and replace the file that has pending changes (marked with the asterisk) with the version from vault and you should see the asterisk go away.

This stop the write enabled save option.

But just to reiterate, this only appears when you have changed something in those models.
